A Grand Expeditions Company

Overview

In this magnificent land of wide open landscapes, majestic beauty and rugged tales of exploration, Adventure Network International introduces the challenging expedition-style program, Ski Last Degree. Ski Last Degree captures the essence of polar exploration in a 2-3 week trip. It is ideal for those who want the serious challenge of a polar expedition, but do not have the time or resources to commit to a full-length expedition from the coast.

This incredible journey allows you to experience first hand some of the challenges and insights that faced early explorers, as you travel by ski the last 60 nautical miles, to reach the most southerly point on earth - the Geographic South Pole. The rewards for your effort are tangible - the bonds of friendship built through shared challenge and the knowledge that you have arrived at the ultimate destination, the South Pole, through your own effort and determination.

THE PROGRAM
  • Fly by private transport jet to the Antarctic Interior and Adventure Network International’s base camp at the foot of the Ellsworth Mountains, 670 miles (1076 km) from the South Pole.
  • Experience the "real Antarctica" of polar explorers, a place that is at once harsh, unforgiving, and unimaginably beautiful.
  • Enjoy a relaxing feeling of accomplishment each evening as you settle into a snug expedition field camp satisfied with the day's progress.
  • Reach the Geographic South Pole and the realization that through your own effort and the support of your team, you are now standing at the most southerly point on earth. Beneath your feet 360 lines of longitude meet and the ice is almost 3000m (10,000ft) thick.
